What Happens to Your File

OxnaPDF traverses the catalog, page dictionaries and annotation arrays of your PDF in browser memory to strip your chosen categories: JavaScript actions (/JavaScript, /JS, /OpenAction, /AA), embedded files (/EmbeddedFiles, /AF, /Collection, /FileAttachment, /Filespec), external link/launch actions (/Link, /URI, /Launch, /GoToR, /SubmitForm, /ImportData), and metadata (/Info, /Metadata, /PieceInfo).

After stripping those entries, the tool prunes unreachable indirect objects from the cross-reference table, displays an itemised count of everything removed, and downloads a clean new PDF copy without uploading your file.

Limits

  • Accepts unencrypted PDFs up to 100 MB and 500 pages for document sanitisation.
  • You must keep at least one sanitisation category enabled (JavaScript, Embedded Files, Links or Metadata) when running the tool.
  • Removes hidden PDF actions, attachments, link annotations and metadata dictionaries; it does not remove visible text or images printed on the page canvas.

Good to Know

  • Run Sanitise PDF before sharing documents from external sources or publishing PDFs online to eliminate hidden auto-open scripts, attached files and tracking links.
  • If you also need to permanently black out and destroy visible names, addresses or figures on the page, run Redact PDF alongside Sanitise PDF.
  • If you want to set new custom Title or Author properties rather than wiping all metadata blank, use Edit or Remove Metadata.
