Your documents are yours. PDFs you open in the desktop app and files you process in the 51 online tools stay on your device and are never uploaded to us. We do not use analytics, tracking or adverts, and we never ask you to create an account. When you ask an AI a question, you choose where it goes: Local AI (Ollama or LM Studio) runs 100% offline on your computer so nothing is sent at all; OxnaAI sends only your question and passage to Cloudflare Workers AI with no logs and no model training; or you can connect your own ChatGPT or Claude account directly.

Because a PDF app opens files from anywhere, we test OxnaPDF the way an attacker would look at it. PDFs cannot run JavaScript inside OxnaPDF, every window is sealed in a sandbox, redaction permanently deletes underlying text and images from the file rather than merely covering them, and edits are always saved as a new copy so your original stays untouched. Every part of OxnaPDF is audited with Cloudflare's published security-audit method and reviewed independently by multiple AI models before release.

Because It Is Faster and Lighter

OxnaPDF is built on our own PDF engine to open immediately and stay out of your way. We measured OxnaPDF 1.11.17 against Adobe Acrobat 26.002 across 24 alternating launches on the same Mac (Apple M3 Max, 36 GB RAM, macOS 26.7, median of 5 runs after a warm-up). OxnaPDF opens a 500-page report 23% faster (0.79 s vs 1.02 s), finishes background work 78% faster on a 500-page report (3.1 s vs 14.0 s, 4.5× faster), and finishes 88% faster on a 4-page PDF (2.5 s vs 21.0 s, 8.4× faster).

While holding a 500-page report open, OxnaPDF uses 36% less memory (445 MB vs 694 MB, and 29% less on a 4-page PDF at 356 MB vs 498 MB). On disk, OxnaPDF is 82% smaller (300 MB vs 1.7 GB). And when you quit OxnaPDF, nothing is left running in the background: 0 helper processes (against Acrobat's AdobeResourceSynchronizer) and 0 background updater services (against Acrobat's 3).

Because Every Paid Acrobat Feature Is Free

Adobe's free Acrobat Reader covers viewing, printing, commenting and signing, but charges for the tools people need most. On Adobe's UK pricing page (6 November 2026, annual plan prepaid including VAT), editing PDF text, converting to Word, Excel and PowerPoint, organising pages and password protection require Acrobat Standard (£14.99 a month · £178.85 a year); comparing PDFs, OCR and permanent redaction require Acrobat Pro (£19.97 a month · £238.75 a year); and asking AI about a document requires Acrobat Studio (£24.98 a month · £296.93 a year). Every one of those features is free in OxnaPDF.

OxnaPDF also includes capabilities Adobe does not offer in Acrobat: native Linux apps (x64 and ARM64) alongside macOS and Windows, offline Local AI that needs no internet connection, extensions for Gemini CLI and Google Antigravity, and zero sign-up across the desktop app and all 51 online tools. Where Acrobat is ahead is multi-party e-signature tracking, web forms, Adobe cloud storage, and iOS and Android apps.

OxnaPDF separates what happens on your device from what happens on the network. Whether you open a document in the desktop app or drop a file into any of the 51 browser tools, our PDF engine processes the file locally in your computer's memory. Your PDFs stay inside the dashed boundary on your device.

Nothing crosses that boundary unless you choose to ask an online AI a question, and even then only your question and the relevant passage are sent. You can work entirely offline with Local AI, use OxnaAI over Cloudflare's network with no account, or connect your own ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini account.

Because Free Is Our Mission, Not a Trap

When software is free, people rightly ask how it pays its bills. OxnaPDF has no adverts, no paid tier and no selling of data because our costs are kept small by design: there is no large engineering team to fund (OxnaPDF is built by Dr Fatih Kansoy with AI coding tools, supported by Google's Antigravity for Science programme), our PDF engine is our own code with no third-party licence fees to pass on, and Local AI or your own ChatGPT and Claude accounts cost us nothing to run.

The only ongoing expense is Cloudflare hosting for the website, downloads and OxnaAI's fair daily allowance. OxnaPDF is a non-profit project run through Kansoy Ltd, which covers those hosting costs directly so that everyone can have a fast, private and complete PDF application for free.
